AOSSIE (Australian Open Source Software Innovation and Education) is a registered not-for-profit organization (ABN: 32 743 493 466) dedicated to the research and development of free and open-source software as well as to the education of the principles and methods of open-source software development. Our projects are always innovation-focused and frequently research-intensive. All of our software libraries and applications are 100% free and open-source.

AOSSIE's First Projects
Three of AOSSIE's four initial projects (Skeptik/Scavenger, Carbon Footprint for Google Maps, and Mind the Word) were implemented by Dr. Bruno Woltzenlogel Paleo and began participating in GSoC under the CSE@TU-Wien organization.

AOSSIE's Foundation
Dr. Bruno Woltzenlogel Paleo founded the Australian Open Source Software Innovation and Education (AOSSIE).

First GSoC Participation
AOSSIE participated in Google Summer of Code independently for the first time, mentoring students globally. The Agora electronic voting project became AOSSIE's flagship fourth project.

Not-For-Profit Status
AOSSIE was registered as a not-for-profit organization in Australia (ABN: 32 743 493 466) under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

Innovation in Emerging Technologies
AOSSIE started vastly expanding its ecosystem with new projects using blockchains and AI.

10th largest GSoC Organization in the World
AOSSIE became the 10th largest organization in the world by both number of completed GSoC projects per year and total number of completed projects, among a cohort of 600+ organizations.
